5 Reasons to Start Your Own Business

“I’m convinced that about half of what separates
the successful entrepreneurs
from the non-successful ones
is pure perseverance”
Steve Jobs

Starting your own business

Some people are destined to be entrepreneurs while for others starting a business is an option they do not wish to contemplate. But why so many of us want to start our own business, why put yourself through the misery  of worry, uncertainty, lack of regular paycheck, long working hours and often sacrificing own family-time and life-style quality (at least at the beginning of a new venture).1. Income Potential
When you start your own business, your income potential is limited only by your own actions and your ability to build the business. Most entrepreneurs do not want to exchange their time, expertise and affords for the wage, they have a great deal of self-believe and self-worth, which is often not appreciated by employers.

2. Pursue your interest and your passion
Many successful businesses started by one’s passion. This is life’s best case scenario, when you are able to “work” while pursuing your passion. Most of those lucky people say that they have never worked one day in their life, they just do what they love doing. Obviously running a successful business is not as easy as “playing with toys you are passionate about”. It still needs to be economically viable, with a business plan, budget and cash-flow calculations in place, but none the less it can provide enjoyment and fulfillment, that is much harder to find when working for others.

3. Be your own boss
Being your own boss gives people a feeling of empowerment, the fact that you can decide when you want to work and when to take time off is almost liberating. The truth of the matter is however, that most self-employed people work much longer hours than employees. Sometimes it appears that you could work 24 hours, 7 days a week and still there is plenty left to do. But on the other hand you only answer to yourself and the business will only be as successful as the time you put into growing it.

4. New life-style
Those of us, who had enough of working 9.00 – 5.00, want to leave corporate world and start their own small business. Depending on your business choice, you could have greater hours flexibility, you might decide to work from home ( favorable for young mothers). With technological advances, often there is no longer necessary for people to be physically present in the office. You are able to create your own work environment and your own time flexibility, and that appeals to many.

5. Build your own team and help others
Let’s be honest, most of us see corporate as a big factory, where your ideas, suggestions of improvements are unheard and often disregarded. So when you have an opportunity to start your own business, often it will be an extension of who you are, you are able to express yourself and create the business that in your vision is the most appealing, efficient and approachable (whatever your goal is). Different things are important to different people, but we all want to create something memorable and successful. If in the process you are able to create your own team and help others to become successful within your business, that will only improve your changes of achieving all your professional and life goals.

If you want to become an entrepreneur, there’s nothing really holding you back. Take the chance, and lead the company you have always imagined.
